What does Karuna mean?

It means compassion for all.

Karuna is one of the four noble truths of Buddhism and the basis of Metta Bhavani, or Loving Kindness meditation, practiced all around the world. It is the root of Tonglen and can be an antidote to suffering. After the death of my husband, Alby Coenen, we discovered that he had written this word at the top of all his letters.Moke Mokotoff, my second husband, was a lifelong Buddhist who practiced Karuna every day. Karuna reminds me to open my heart and sit in compassionate presence with whatever arises.
